1. Publication Fee Policy

JESS does not charge authors for online manuscript submission. Authors may submit their manuscripts through the official journal submission system without paying a submission fee.

The journal applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 1,000,000 (one million Indonesian rupiah) for each manuscript accepted for publication.

This publication fee supports the journal's publishing activities, including the improvement of publication services, manuscript handling, editing, coordination of peer review, and publication processes.

Authors are requested to arrange payment after their manuscripts have been accepted for publication. Submission of a manuscript does not, by itself, create an obligation to pay the publication fee.

5. Article Processing Charge Waiver

JESS recognizes that financial limitations may prevent some authors from paying publication fees. The journal therefore provides an opportunity for authors who experience financial difficulties to request a waiver of the applicable Article Processing Charge.

This arrangement reflects the journal's commitment to ensuring that financial barriers do not unnecessarily prevent the publication of academically valuable research.

Authors seeking a fee waiver are encouraged to:

  1. Contact the editorial office through the official journal email address;
  2. Identify the manuscript for which a waiver is requested;
  3. Briefly explain the circumstances preventing payment of the publication fee;
  4. Provide any additional information reasonably requested by the editorial office;
  5. Obtain confirmation of the outcome before making payment arrangements.

Important Information

The availability of a fee waiver does not mean that every request will automatically be approved. Authors should obtain written confirmation from the editorial office concerning any waiver granted.

6. Editorial Independence and Publication Fees

Manuscripts submitted to JESS are evaluated according to their scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal's aims and scope, and compliance with publication ethics.

The payment of an Article Processing Charge must not influence the selection of reviewers, the content of peer-review reports, or the final editorial decision regarding a manuscript.

The publication fee is associated with accepted manuscripts and must not be interpreted as a guarantee of acceptance, preferential editorial treatment, or expedited peer review.

Requests for financial assistance should be considered separately from the scientific assessment of a manuscript.

7. Open Access Publication

JESS provides free online access to its published articles. Readers worldwide may access available scholarly content through the journal's official website without paying subscription or article access fees.

The open-access model seeks to improve the availability and visibility of research findings and to support knowledge dissemination among researchers, educators, policymakers, practitioners, and the wider public.

The payment of an Article Processing Charge relates to the journal's publication arrangements and does not constitute a charge imposed on readers for accessing published scholarly articles.

8. Printed Journal Copies

Authors who require a printed version of the journal should contact the JESS editorial office through the official email address or telephone number.

Information regarding the availability of printed copies, production arrangements, delivery, and any associated costs should be confirmed directly with the editorial office.

9. Payment Inquiries and Corrections

Authors who have questions about payment instructions, transfer confirmation, incorrect payments, invoices, or other financial matters should contact the editorial office using its official communication channels.

Requests concerning payment adjustments or refunds must be clarified with the editorial office. This page does not establish a general refund entitlement or non-refundable payment condition.
